Orientating Entrepreneurship as a Multi Competencer!

What are the pros and cons of being a "Jack of all trades and master of none”!

Growing up, my beautiful parents encouraged my brother and I to try anything and everything! I played netball, touch rugby, flute, rode motorbikes, danced- disco, tap and modern, waterskied from sunrise to sunset every weekend.... and competed in most of the above! This was all before I turned into a teen!

Once I hit High School it was all about my Girl Grunge Band "Manseed". Electric guitars, distortion pedals, cool clothes and Mum and Dad touring us around all the stages in North Queensland like roadies! The best roadies out there!

We never sat still, and when we did we where in the Land Rover on a family 4WD adventure into the middle of nowhere learning the ways of nature and survival! 

The world is your oyster?

I was told if you can imagine it, you can create it! You can be anything you set your mind on! And in the most encouraging of tones, If you do something, give it your best!!!

The world really did feel like my oyster and it was all out there waiting for me! Unlimited possibilities, opportunities and new ones beyond them! With an abundance of security and stability and a platform like a rock canvas ready to be painted! What a gift! I am forever consciously thankful for being fortunate enough to have this upbringing!

Not at all strange that I followed the entrepreneurial foot steps of my parents and left school at fifteen, right after finishing year ten! Next stop, the adult world of business-ship and the start of a long career path coloured by my upbringing!

Orientating Entrepreneurship and creating a career as a Multi-Competencer!

So, can you be anything? Can you create what you imagine?

I quit my job as a project manager last year! Crazy move, I know, whilst in the midst of inflation and all the rest of what is going on at current! You know the old saying, "closing one door will open an other"? Well, what about if there are a lot of other doors to choose from?

And is this a pro or a con?

Finally returning to my entrepreneurial roots, I have opened the door to starting up a small business. But behind that mighty door is a plethora of multi doors to choose from and orientate. By that I mean I am a multi-compitancer! Experienced in business, project and process management, coaching, a love of working with service and customer experience, packaging and lifting concepts, I am a hairdresser, a crafter, a creator, a slow fashion and redesign freak who loves interior design, I run an AirBnB apartment and am longing to do all of this under one umbrella....

Like opening my own Concept Store! ? !

Deep breath....

Wait, Multi Competences, Multi Skills, Multi Interests, Multi Hobbies sounds all PROS right? OR???

Now, I may have mastered some of the arts mentioned in my repertoire above, but I find titling myself quite the task, to say the least! Answering the well asked question- "What do you do for work" has become a long story that I tend to loose most peoples concentration within the first few sentences. So yeah, little bit of CON sneaking in here!

But, I am working on a pitch! Don't worry!

Life is full of Pros and Cons!

"The Art of Finding" the balance between them in the un-known...

Feeling lost in the un-known is never easy! I think this can be especially un-easing in an "adult" role. Should one not know what they will be when they have become a grown up?!?

But I am trying to embrace the excitement in the unknown, to realise the privilege I have of finding my way and being able to loose myself to be found! To feel free in the art of reinventing ones self by digging up skills and sides of yourself that have been tucked away and polishing up new skills and interests to glide on into the future with. And, owning it!

You know what I mean? Owning your skills, your individual-ness, your path, your you!

And yeah, I believe... if you can imagine it, you can create it and that you can be what you set your mind on! And the magic that comes with positive manifestation!
